Scam calls aimed at insurance customers are on the rise. If someone you don’t know contacts you claiming to be from American Home Life, here is how to spot it and what to do.
If a call doesn’t feel right
In today’s world it pays to stay alert to suspicious and fraudulent sales calls. If you receive a call from someone you don’t know who claims to represent American Home Life, or who is trying to get you to make changes to an AHL policy that you did not initiate, please stop and contact us directly at (800) 876-0199. We would rather take an extra call than see one of our policyholders misled.
Warning signs to watch for
- Pressure to act immediately, before you have time to think it over.
- Requests for your banking information, account numbers, or passwords.
- Requests to sign documents you do not fully understand.
- Anyone discouraging you from contacting our Home Office.
- Claims that your current policy is worthless unless you let them review it.
- Refusal to provide a license number or National Producer Number (NPN).
What you can do
If something feels off, you are always free to end the conversation and verify before you go any further. A legitimate agent will gladly give you their name and producer number and will never rush you into a decision. When in doubt, hang up and reach out to us yourself, rather than calling a number the caller gives you.
